JOB DESCRIPTION:

Through CLARA, 3BL provides safe drinking water for rural Ethiopians. CLARA is a Plug & Play technology that automatically disinfects the water passing through a pipeline with on-site produced sodium hypochlorite. CLARA continuously disinfects water flowing in a pipe using only kitchen salt and solar energy. At the same time, thanks to the remote monitoring system installed, NGOs, humanitarian aid agencies, and water facilities can ensure sustainable operations by planning maintenance and reporting KPIs and successful achievements to the donors.
CLARA project is working on redesigning embedded devices that automate a water disinfection process and sends data regarding the health and status of the system to a remote server. It has also a remote monitoring system that receives data from the embedded device to visualize the data and control the embedded system remotely. The embedded board has various sensors, actuators and communication devices.
We are looking to hire an Senior Hardware Engineer who will be part of the Clara team in Hawassa. The Senior Hardware Engineer is responsible for R&D activities on the CLARA products.
JOB SUMMARY:
Developing firmware code to program the embedded board
In collaboration with team and stakeholders, designing web or mobile based remote monitoring system for data visualization
Write functional specification, detailed specification, manufacturing test plan and designer test plan/results documents on all products that are developed
Interact with stakeholders to design proper PCB stack up, ensuring all design requirements are properly met
Research and designing schematic for a microcontroller based printed circuit board (PCB) as CLARA’s products requirements
Analyze and interpret new product requirements to ensure design projects meet commercial objectives
Assist and support installation and maintenance planning
Closely monitor maintenance and installation activities to optimize CLARA development and activities
Provide tasks milestones
Plan and manage activities and monitor team’s tasks
SPECIFICATIONS:
The minimum required professional skills for the job holder to perform successfully in their position include
BSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Electro mechanical, Computer Science and related fields (Master's degree is a plus)
Previous experience: Minimum Five years experience
Excellent background in electronics and computer Programming languages like C++,C and python
Fluency in English and Amharic, other languages are a plus
